FALL HAIRSTYLES-2013

As fall falls upon us, it is time to throw the salt sprays back to the sea where they belong, thrust aside our summer nonchalant approach of thinking that summer is the time to let loose and go 'au naturel'. As freeing and relaxing as this time might be, it is time to bring back our hair-burning utensils and redefine our arm muscles, which have been lost from the lack of pulling and tugging which these strenuous and tedious hairstyles entail.

When looking through the fashion shows of fall 2013, I have noticed three recurring hair trends; low ponytail, braids, and VOLUME. Aside from those, I have also seen many fashion shows with models wearing wet hair which I am a little more dubious about trying out.

Rachel Zoe fall 2013

Lanvin fall 2013
In many fashion shows such as Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta and Rachel Zoe, models have been rocking the low ponytail. This hairstyle is a slightly softer look than the spring, sleek low ponytail. Unlike the spring hairstyle, these models have some hairs pulled out from the ponytail to create a more relaxed look.

Fendi fall 2013
These pictures show two different types of braided hair. In the Fendi 2013 show, the models were seen with a punk style hairdo. Whilst I believe I am not brave enough to try this style out, I think it looks rather funky. However, in the second picture the hairstyle is more bohemian and relaxed, a very princess-like style.

Va Va VOLUME! Well the Marc by Marc Jacobs show really made a statement with the extremely voluminous, almost electrified hair. A very bold statement which I fear almost deflects the eye from the clothes.

In the Oscar de la Renta and Roberto Cavalli show I noticed the models with sleeked back, wet hair. While this style might look nice for a few minutes (or otherwise like a wet rat), I fear that I would either catch pneumonia or my hair would become a frizz ball in under ten minutes.
